Welcome!  The Mentor Match Platform is now open for enrollment!  To ensure you receive the most out of your new relationship as a Mentor and a Mentee, we strongly recommend you view the Mentor Program Best Practices Webinar Slides and use the Mentor Program First Meeting Checklist.

If you're on this page, chances are you want to search for a Mentor -- that's a good idea. First, you need to enroll as a Mentee.

As a Mentee, you will benefit from the opportunity to develop an ongoing relationship with a more seasoned fundraising professional.  AHP Mentors are available as an additional resource to you by sharing their experiences and expertise. This relationship can also provide you with additional networking outlets for further career development.

Mentor Program First Meeting Checklist


The following program levels are available:

Annual Mentorship: This program option is a 12-month commitment with the purpose of promoting individual development through the transfer of skills, expert knowledge and insight.  At least one participant in the Mentor relationship must be an AHP member in good standing.  Participants are required to meet a minimum of three times during the mentorship.  This is a self-facilitating program with basic support courtesy of the AHP staff.

Six Month Mentorship: This program option is a 6-month commitment for AHP members only.  This is a self-facilitating program with basic support courtesy of the AHP staff.  Participants are required to meet a minimum of three times during the mentorship.

Peer-to-Peer Mentor Relationship: This program is designed for participants in similar positions or sectors.  At least one participant in the Mentor relationship must be an AHP member in good standing.  This is a self-facilitating program with basic support courtesy of the AHP staff.  This program is available under an open time frame. 

Job Transition Mentorship: This program option is a minimum 6-month commitment specifically for those seeking guidance as a newcomer to the industry, recently acquired position, or looking to move into a different area of expertise within the industry.  At least one participant in the Mentor relationship must be an AHP member in good standing.  Participants are required to meet a minimum of three times during the mentorship.  This is a self-facilitating program with basic support courtesy of the AHP staff.


General Expectations and Suggestions for Mentees:

You are responsible for setting up your initial meeting with your Mentor.
During your initial meeting, items of discussion should include: how often you intend to meet and your ideal methods of communication.
Determine your goals and objectives for your mentoring relationship to identify what can be gained from this experience.
Identify problems or obstacles that you are encountering so they can be discussed with your Mentor to assist you in your career development.
Be prepared with questions for each meeting to learn about your Mentor and his/her community experiences.
Think about what can be learned from your Mentor and their experiences; what committees they have served on, roles they have played in the fundraising community and relationships with other health care professionals.
Make an effort to attend meetings and events with your Mentor when appropriate.


Here are the steps to successfully complete your Mentee enrollment:

Make selections for each of the demographics below to set your preferences. Please note that some fields are required for Mentee enrollment. The more information you provide, the easier it will be for Mentors to find their best Mentee match.

In addition to enrolling as a Mentee, please complete your member profile (which is populated with some of your membership information) so that potential Mentors can learn more about you. Be sure to add a photo, include information in your bio and details of your job history.
